We were able to arrange a free transfer from Naban pier on Koh Larn to the resort at short notice, which was much appreciated. Xanadu Beach resort looks a little run down in general, and our room was relatively basic/minimalist. There was a small bar fridge, and a complimentary bottle of water was provided daily (just as well, as the tap water comes from an artisan bore, and tastes like it...). The bathroom was rather dated, and very colourful (with different colour tiles on each wall) but did have a glass shower frame and hot/cold water. The air conditioner worked well, but the curtains were not block out. The resort is quite large and consists of double storey rows of units. We were located on the ground floor, but this still required us to negotiate a flight of stairs to reach it, with a common verandah/walkway at the the front, and a small private balcony at the rear. There are no lifts. We had breakfast included, which consisted of a choice of either American, Thai or a Chinese set breakfast. The dining area looks over the beach and was an amazing spot to dine and relax. There were also sun lounges located on the beach that were free to use for guests, as were beach towels. Next door to the resort were several other businesses that catered for the daily visitors, renting out sun lounges and providing food/drinks. As we visited during the low season (late May) there not many visitors, but that also meant that the restaurants on the beach closed about 5pm (last ferry leaves the island at 6pm) so you had to eat there early, or chose to eat later at the resort. Samae Beach was however relatively undeveloped, particularly in contrast to the many high rise buildings in Pattaya, which we found very relaxing, and the water is a great temperature! There was a ring of floats around the beach, around 100 metres out in the water, so that the beach is very safe even for those on floats or boards.

Great beach. Great location. The hotel is slightly outdated and worn out, but still nice and comfy and location is amazing. Breakfast: it's quite unhealthy. Has too much meat in it, bread, jam, butter, coffee is really not good unfortunately, watermelons are pale and not red and juicy, concentrated fruit juice and a lot of small cakes which are not tasty or healthy. The fire show was amazing and fun. But I believe it's only on certain days. The whole grilled fish and French fries from the restaurant menu were delicious. Restaurant staff does not speak much English but very helpful and friendly. They offer beach towels, which is super convenient. They also offer a ride to the port when you check out. It goes there every 30 minutes. If you want to go to the night market, there are taxis there (30thb per person) and taxi bikes (50 thb). I recommend to take bike taxi on top of the mountain and watch the two beaches from above, great view!!

I want to say a big thank you to the amazing team at Hotel Xanadu Beach Resort for making our stay so special. We stayed for two days to celebrate my best friend’s birthday, and everything was just perfect. The hotel gave us the best room, which made us feel so welcomed and appreciated. But what really stood out was the surprise from the restaurant team—they sang a lovely birthday song and brought out a beautiful fruit plate with a candle on top, which was such a thoughtful replacement for a cake. It was such a sweet and memorable moment! The staff were so kind and attentive throughout our stay, and the whole experience felt warm and personal. We’ll definitely be back and will recommend this lovely place to everyone. Thank you for making this birthday celebration truly unforgettable!

The hotel located on Samae Beach, which is more private than those near downtown area. Once we disembarked the boat, we called the hotel to sent a shuttle for the pick-up, free of charge. Our rooms are spacious and walkable to the beach. The hotel provides beach chairs and towels for guests without extra charge. Breakfast is adequate, yet they could do better. They served REAL coffee at the breakfast, not an instant one, though. All staff are courteous. We had a problem with the toilet flush, and got it fixed right away. Food at the restaurant is OK, the taste mostly caters to Western guests who are the majority at the hotel. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again if I revisit the island

The dining area was superb. It is right by the beach. I had my go-to spot which was a picnic table that has this nice view - it was really lovely! The room was spacious, even for two people. It gives you a standard basic 3-star hotel kind of feeling because most amenities are there but not provided with the most generosity. They keep things very clean though so it was definitely a plus. In addition, they have a garden with some sort of fountains. Pretty zen if you are looking for a spot to read books.
